Around Yorktown, good coaches book up before each season, so ask about waiting lists and package rates rather than single lessons. Camps and junior academies usually require a short evaluation first; ask about scholarship or sliding-scale spots, which many non-profit tennis associations offer.

Was trying to leave and a pickup truck blocked the road I didnโt know what he was doing just seen a guy who works for ymca behind the wheel. I gave a polite honk, he did nothing but stare. Like he wanted me to ride the curb because he was in the middle of both lanes. I honked twice quick again nothing I just heard him scoff like he was trying to test my driving, I was annoyed and just wanted to leave so I layed on the horn and for about 30seconds he sat there like it was a game. Then he began to make his move, he was backing up to the dumpster. He made me wait while he did that, which got me thinking why he didnโt do that to begin with. Or why he wouldnt move up alittle or make any sort of move when thereโs cars coming and your in both lanes on a corner. he was at the corner in both lanes and if he moved up there would be plenty of room. He called himself โjayโ I have since quit ymca this facility being the main cause. There are plenty of good ymcas with friendly people. This one may have afew bad apples that Iโve had to deal with. Will update with name

The front and gym staff are very friendly, so there's no issue there, and the remodeling is beautiful. My only issue is with some of the daycare staff. I left my then 5 month old there and walked by to check on him, only to find some of the daycare members on their phones just scrolling and not paying attention. If I leave my child with you, I'm trusting you to watch my child, not be on your phone. This has left me unsettled and instead of bringing him with me when I go to the gym, I have changed the hours I go and leave him with someone I trust to watch him. Some of the daycare staff can be rude and make you feel like you're inconveniencing them when you drop your child off.

I have really mixed feelings about this Y. Post-Covid the number of available group exercise classes has greatly diminished and the classes they do have are often during the day when working people cannot attend. The staff is nice, and the facility is definitely the nicest Y in the area. There are some major drawback though, making me wish York Co had another viable option. First, this Y is so over crowded it is ridiculous. The staff also seems to overlook a lot of things going on. Teenagers will literally take over the equipment to the point where it takes impossibly long to do a short weight routine because they are camping out on the equipment. Last week several teens set up an obstacle course of sorts and were running and jumping over things in the back room. It made it impossible to even access the hand weights. This is just one example of many where the staff just seems oblivious to what is going on, or they donโt care. I have noticed numerous young kids in there with no parent in sight, yet I was told during my kids orientation that children must be adjacent to where you are. A month or so ago a child I would say was about 8 or 9 years old was standing on the rails of the s

Iโve been here on off since the day it open. And the one pet peeve Iโve always had was the children in the hot tub and nothing said to them about it. . I wirnessed something different today. KALLIE said something to them. First time Iโve ever seen one of the lifeguards not ignoring it. Kudos to Cali. I do not know her, nor do I know the others, but I have been frequenting here for awhile and I am happy to see something done about it. Itโs a safety issue! Overall, the location is clean, friendly and feels like home most of the time. Lol. Love it here.
